I was just wanting to offer some insight on skidders vs the Magnatrac. Re: Magnatrac mini dozers in reply to Diydave, 01-06-2013 16:00:07 It will still go on impossibly steep slopes, and push a full blade of dirt, just like a big cat! I still Like the struck better, but it takes so long to do anything with, it gets a lot less use than it used to. Price, speed, track type, and HP considerations plus the # of attachments for the ASV, make it the better choice. When I bought mine, the ASV RC30 rubbertrack loader hadn't come out yet. It don't move real fast, 2 MPH regular speed, 3 MPH overdrive. What mine excels at is tight spaces and drainage ditches. Don't cut off at ground level, or you won't have a lever to work it out with. 25 HP kohler engine.Īs far as pushing out trees, not very big ones, maybe 2-3". I have the all hydraulic version, with the 6 way PAT blade, 3 point hitch and PTO. But those were better times, when I bought my Magnatrac 5000. If you are thinking of buying new, I wouldn't do it again. Down sides of the Struck 5000, Slow, fuel tank too small, tears up the grass unless you are careful, going up a grade - breakover is hard to get used too. Support from Struck is great.Ī 25 HP compact cannot do the work, will not lift the weight, cannot climb the same grade and cannot work in the same tight spaces. It is slow but can work in tight areas and has more power than any compact utility can deliver in the same hp range. Loader/backhoe is very useful and the power helps. Loader is very powerful! The 25 HP engine is a big improvement. I now have moved up to the MH-5000 and what a difference. Putting a load on it in low gear with the weight on it it could break the chain which I did. Machine was a little small with the single chain track to support the backhoe. Next project was a MT-1800 Struck Magnatrac loader/backhoe. I started with a Lennox Kitty Track 600 - 6HP! It was an attempt by Lennox Furnace Co to make a garden tractor in a furnace plant. My experience with Mini Crawlers is pretty good. I hope their niche is keeping this company strong.Re: Magnatrac mini dozers in reply to Ellis Kinney, 01-06-2013 14:13:33 These little work horses are the best solution for my needs, easily modified and indispensable. Parts availability for older models is surprisingly good for a small relatively low volume manufacturer. Company support is fast, friendly and efficient. I have found that the quality of material and build is very good. Wear parts are generally available from struck. Parts, when needed are either common and available at northern tool or. These machines have displaced a Kubota excavator and a toro dingo. I have a range of small machines and would be lost without the traction, reliability and well well applied power these machines provide. I do specialized landscape work in conservation areas, building trails and mitigating water problems. one w 6way blade & backhoe, one w loader and backhoe. Hand work, big machines or small & mini skidsteers. You have to compare these machines to the alternatives. The rear hydraulic rippers are very good and work well when the ground is fairly dry, but add a little mud and forget it. The Honda 390 engine is excellent and has more than adequate power. POSITIVES: The quality of the materials is good and the workmanship is also very good. Correction is accomplished by steering brakes, a design that is much easier to operate.įinally, the seat does not tilt up and when it rains it traps water very well. I presently own a larger dozer and have many hours operating it. I have owned and operated several dozers. This makes a front 吐loat when grading Very hard to control This type transmission works well on riding mowers but not on dozers. This problem is exacerbated by the fact that the transmission is a hydrostatic drive system, not a gear system, which means that even with minimal throttle the forward progress is too fast for the hydraulic front blade to cope with same. Lots of luck trying to steer if the ground is even slightly uneven. The hydraulics are controlled by the other hand. Steering is controlled by two levers operated by one hand placed over both. There are also no steering brakes in the design. When plowing snow, the angle is not adequate because large clumps of snow will exit the high side of the blade. The blade requires 2 セ inch wrenches to angle and 15 minutes time on ones knees to set the angle each time. In mud or snow they fill and provide very poor traction. The grousers are made from U channel steel and are bolted to the flat tracks. NEGATIVES: Tracks have optional grousers. RS 1000 Struck Crawler Tractor Review ~ purchased 5/13.ģ90cc Honda engine/Blade and rear rippers are hydraulic.
